Never before have we seen these prestigious medical journal voice such explicit support and back Biden for the next US President.
I am writing this post after voting has closed in the US election but whilst counting is still in progress and it looks like a close one.
Usually, medical journals are politically agnostic. Partly due to their funding roots and partly due to their obligation to provide the best care medical knowledge available to allow health professionals to deliver the best care. Medical journals back Biden is the topic of today’s post.
But once again, 2020 has broken all the rules.
Less than a month ago, the New England Journal of Medicine published an article entitled, “Dying in a leadership vacuum“. This article documents a scathing review of the Trump administration and its inaction on properly managing the COVID19 pandemic.
Similarly, The Lancet published an equally aggressive take on the public health response back in August. The editorial discusses the proposed changes to the affordable care act (ACA) and that since 2017 the number of people who are uninsured has risen for the first time to 27.4 million.
But there are more.
Nature published an article just a few weeks ago stating clearly, “Biden must lead”. Medical journals back Biden was found in all five of these articles that I read today – an incredible first ever as far as I can research.
Biden has pledged that decisions on the pandemic response will be made by public-health professionals and not by politicians”https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-02852-x
Clearly, we are in unprecedented times but there are over 50 days left in 2020, what more surprises might we find by the years end? What do you think? Would you like to read more articles like this in my blog? Let me know in the comments down below.
